Thank you for taking the time to visit this site and view my pieces. I sincerely hope you enjoy what you find here. And hopefully I can give you a little insight into who I am as an artist and where this is headed.

I have to admit, as I prepared to write this I thought much about what I could say that might sound appealing to certain audiences. I have never been one to be much impressed by the polished look, and I will stand out on a limb here and say that you probably aren’t either. All that glitters….

I believe my art to be an honest approximation of things I see and feel, and sometimes things I had not been conscious of until they surfaced in a piece. I would like any dialogue, be it fan or critical, to contain the same clean lines and integrity.

I was taught to be an accurate and detailed draftsman by my grandfather, Rudolf Greiser. He was a gifted draftsman who worked on the engineering plans for the Corsair Warplane and Remington Arms. His kindness and gentle patience brought my skill forward like a magician frees a dove from his overcoat. Like most admiring sons, I followed his lead in the graphic design and printing industry.

After years of being in the commercial art industry myself, I yearned for a more organic expression - a life that pursued the details of my dreams and reflections of a more emotive self.

Though a good portion of my work previously was more of realism, I have chosen to move forward into more abstract explorations. There is an excitement in that progress that leaves me “tickled pink” as my grandfather would often say. For years I struggled with abstraction but as I opened as a person, the more I understood it as the valuable emotive expression it is. In the pieces in which I explore abstraction I try to give my viewer some concrete objects of reality to feast upon as a visual basis. I then extrude them into abstraction. I do this as an opportunity for the viewer to move into enjoying abstraction as well but with the “safety” of some realism. I believe those pieces to be an invitation to pause a while and see what comes to mind….sugar free exploration of true dreams.

My goal is to create a collection of images that are known for their detail and technique and invoke a personal exploration for each viewer. In the words of my friend and collector, Don Morin, “there is more to come.” I hope that you will join me in this expedition.

Thanx. – Paul Greiser
